Matching Gifts

Donate and SAVE ON TAXES

New Giving Opportunity
President George W. Bush recently signed a law that allows taxpayers who are 70 1/2 or older to give away as much as $100,000 a year from their IRA’s directly to qualified charities with the benefit that your 2007 donation will be EXEMPT FROM FEDERAL INCOME TAX. This new tax break is available only for distributions in 2006 and in 2007. Many people are taking advantage of this new law to channel significant gifts to charities. Those interested in taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity should contact your CPA or tax attorney to arrange for the contribution. We hope you will consider our mission as a recipient of your contribution.

Stocks and Bonds
A charitable gift of stocks or bonds provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously sharing with others. A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation. In addition to helping PHFH, you may diversify away from low-basis, long-term holdings into other assets that will better suit your current needs.
